By Jack Bernard | The famous March on Washington took place 60 years ago – Aug. 28, 1963.  Some forces in the black community wanted it to be militant and disruptive, along the lines of what Malcolm X desired. However, because of its truly patriotic organizers, the gathering was peaceful- as well as effective.
