BRACK: Rural Georgia needs speedy expansion of broadband internet

By Elliott Brack  |  Rural broadband in Georgia got a boost—a slight one—this week when Gov. Brian Kemp announced that two rural electric co-ops in Middle Georgia will be offering high speed Internet service to their 80,000 customers. With the General Assembly now in session, providing broadband to these areas ought to be the Number One priority for rural legislators, who must convince the rest of the General Assembly that their areas suffer dramatically without this high-speed Internet service.

BRACK: Today’s world of the Internet brings with it significant problems

By Elliott Brack, editor and publisher | What hath the Internet wrought?

That most marvelous of a new age at our fingertips is a force more fierce than we had thought. It is not just an information source, but appears to be much stronger a media than ever were pamphlets, newspapers, the telephone, radio or television.

FOCUS: Searching the Internet provides good value for trip to India

By Frank Sharp | My wife, Pearl, and I had always wanted to take a trip to India. Fortunately, Pearl found a Cyber Monday package deal from Friendly Planet tour which included the airplane ticket on Air India from JFK to New Delhi for about $1,500. Normally, the plane ticket itself would be about that much. This price included all hotels and meals, except lunch, and all ground transportation. Wow. We scooped it up.

We came to New York a day early. After touring New York City, we caught the Air India direct non-stop flight from JFK to New Delhi. It was packed. After 12 hours, we finally landed. The food served onboard was good and the flight was smooth.

BRACK: Handcuffing teachers behind their backs was unnecessary

y Elliott Brack | What bugged me about the sentencing of the 11 teachers in the Atlanta Public School scandal was relatively minor.

Lots of people got upset about the severity of the sentencing. We figured the judge was sending an important message about their guilt.
