BRACK: Exciting activities in Gwinnett cities with envisioning leaders

By Elliott Brack, editor and publisher | One of the bright areas in Gwinnett in 2017 is the tremendous vision, funding and activity going on in some of our cities.

Partially funded by the cities of Gwinnett’s greater share of SPLOST funds, but augmented by growth in city revenues, there is a feeling of bustle and movement in some of Gwinnett’s cities that is nothing less than exciting.

BRACK: Much more diverse board structure in Gwinnett on way

By Elliott Brack, editor and publisher | For years now, there has been debate on how many county and school board districts Gwinnett needs to best govern ourselves.

Currently there are five school board districts, and four county commission districts. Each board has five members. However, there are only four county commission districts since the chairman is elected on a county-wide basis, and makes up the fifth board member.

By Charles Hayslett, Atlanta, Ga. | Here’s an easy way to understand the widening gap between Metro Atlanta and the rest of Georgia.

Compare all 56 counties of interior South Georgia to Gwinnett County alone. Gwinnett County’s 2013 population was estimated at 859,304 – just under three-fourths of the 1.16 million people living in our 56-county South Georgia region.

FOCUS: Louisianan’s view from living for a short period in Gwinnett

By Bill Long, Shreveport, La. | After retiring from college teaching in July of 2014, I moved to Duluth, Georgia, to be near family. Except for two years in Washington, D.C., where I worked in the U.S. Senate pursuing a graduate degree, and a year in Cambridge, Mass., studying at the post-doctorate level, I had resided in Louisiana where I was born and raised.

BRACK: Gwinnett must act now to have traffic relief … by 2025!

By Elliott Brack | There’s always a big time gap between conception of an idea and its completion. That’s true in social interactions in getting people to agree, in marketing of a new product, and certainly in construction projects.
