Hirano Tecseed Co., Ltd., a Japanese manufacturer of coating machines, will open its first U.S. office in Norcross. The company chose Gwinnett and the metro Atlanta region for its global access, diverse workforce, and strong economic climate to support growth.

The City of Norcross has approved Gwinnett Housing Corporation’s rezoning request for a 1.33 acre property on Medlock Bridge Road to allow 16 townhomes for students and their families facing housing insecurity staying in extended-stay rooms — typically motels.

NEWS BRIEFS: County OKs new flight school at Briscoe Field

Gwinnett commissioners last week approved a 25-year lease for a pilot school in Gwinnett to operate at Gwinnett County Airport, Briscoe Field. Lookup Flight Academy, LLC, the highest-scoring firm in a competitive bid process, was selected to lease a 2.3-acre site with hangar building and ramp. It is a minority (Black) owned firm.

College basketball for both men and women is coming to Georgia Gwinnett College. The University System of Georgia recently approved the addition of men’s and women’s basketball teams intercollegiate sports programs, starting with the 2025-26 academic year.
