PHOTO ESSAY: Gwinnett County Fair
By Frank Sharp, Lawrenceville | The Gwinnett County Fair is one of the largest county fairs in the nation. I went twice, once at midday and then at night. Travel Tip: Go Grayson Highway to Davis Road and take that to the back gate so as to miss the gridlock on Sugarloaf Parkway. If you are on a budget and like down home cooking, the Old Time Restaurant is a good place to eat.
MYSTERY: Couple seeks help in identifying location of this photo
Today’s mystery photo is more of a quest. Lou Camerio of Lilburn sends in his photo. He and his wife, Dee, “…would like to know where this photo was taken. It is of members of her family and was taken prior to 1946. Everyone in the photo is deceased. Maybe one or two of your readers can identify the location.”
So how about it, guys? Can you help them out? There are several identifiable clues, so who’s up to making the ID? Send in your thoughts to elliott@brack.net and be sure to include your hometown.
MYSTERY: Where’s this converted Volkswagen?
Looks like the Mystery Photo is a converted Volkswagen, now an eatery, with stools and a bench. This food truck could make your mouth water. The diners seem to be enjoying themselves. Now tell us where you think it is located. Send in your thoughts to elliott@gwinnettforum.com and be sure to include your hometown.
MYSTERY: How George Graf identified the recent photo
This edition’s Mystery Photo shows mansard roofs, reminding you of traditional architecture from an European castle. But are they? Figure out where this is and send your thoughts to elliott@gwinnettforum.com. Be sure to include your hometown.
ONLY ONE PERSON identified the cruise ship and location of the last Mystery Photo. It came from George Graf of Palmyra, Va., who said that the photo was taken from “The Battery which lies under the slopes of Signal Hill in St. John’s, Newfoundland.”

FOCUS: Searching the Internet provides good value for trip to India
By Frank Sharp | My wife, Pearl, and I had always wanted to take a trip to India. Fortunately, Pearl found a Cyber Monday package deal from Friendly Planet tour which included the airplane ticket on Air India from JFK to New Delhi for about $1,500. Normally, the plane ticket itself would be about that much. This price included all hotels and meals, except lunch, and all ground transportation. Wow. We scooped it up.
We came to New York a day early. After touring New York City, we caught the Air India direct non-stop flight from JFK to New Delhi. It was packed. After 12 hours, we finally landed. The food served onboard was good and the flight was smooth.
