NEWS BRIEFS: Georgia Gwinnett researchers study food insecurity

By Collin Elder  |  The growth of food insecurity among families has accelerated in recent years, according to Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) faculty members Dr. Jenna Andrews-Swann and Dr. Gregory Gullette. The pair, who teach anthropology at GGC, along with their students, seek to study the physical, social and emotional effects of food insecurity among underserved populations in the Atlanta metro region (AMR).

ANOTHER VIEW: Joro spiders back in full force this fall in Georgia

By Collin Elder  |  The sticky webs of Joro spiders are back in full force this fall, and they have got scientists researching their nature as predators. Dr. Patrick Cain, a biology lecturer at Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC), says of  the potentially invasive species. “While they’re not classified as invasive right now, I’d be surprised if that didn’t change soon.”
