BRACK: Looking back to the political watershed year of 1984 in Gwinnett

By Elliott Brack, editor and publisher | If you moved to Gwinnett after 1984, you may not realize the significance of that year politically for the county. You would not be alone. The county’s population in 1984 was 226,100, while today it’s estimated to be 960,000. So a great majority of residents, 733,100, have moved here since 1984. You are in good company.

Back in 1984, the county was still composed of mainly white residents, more than 95 percent. Today that’s no longer the case, with the white population in 2018 in a minority, and with African-Americans, Hispanic and Asians being together a majority of the county.

BRACK: Watch the 2018 Election, for It Could Signal the Direction in 2020

By Elliott Brack, editor and publisher  |  The direction our nation will take over the next three years may very well be guided by what happens in the November, 2018 election.

Will our nation remain led by President Trump, who we presume will get the Repblican nomination in 2020 to fill a second term?  Or will some Democrat emerge from their ranks to upset the Trump applecart, and return our nation to a quieter regime?

FOCUS: Making a few points as she waits for the 2018 elections

By Sara Rawlins, Lawrenceville, Ga. | Please allow me to make a few points.

Point 1. Yes, Mr. Trump won the election with the help of the “White Man,” especially in the rural areas, but here’s a fact that needs to be pointed out: most of their jobs went overseas way before President Obama came into office and most jobs were out-sourced because of cost concerns. Here the fault lies with big business, which Mr. Trump is a part of.
