BRACK: Looking at the primary results and thoughts on the governor’s race

MAY 25, 2018  |  It’s been quite intoxicating for me as several readers questioned why GwinnettForum did not give some facts and guidance on the races for governor in the primaries.

One person said: “You told us of your choices for every race around except the governor. And we don’t have on your site any information from the gubernatorial candidates. Why is that?”

BRACK: Here’s a way to make sense out of the many political candidates

MAY 11, 2018  |  Notice today’s date, May 11. That means there’re only 11 days left until the 2018 Georgia General Primary, coming on May 22.

What we’ve heard from lots of people is that there seems to be little interest in these races, and some mighty big offices are open to be filled. Remember the race last year to fill the Sixth District seat in Congress between the winner, Karen Handel and Jon Ossoff?  It got loads of publicity, constant television advertising, and oodles of money funneling from out of state.  Compared to that race, this election season is a sleeper.

BRACK: Here’s a reflective look at this 2018 Georgia elective season

BRACK: Here’s a reflective look at this 2018 Georgia elective season

Today let’s take a look at the Georgia political scene for 2018.

Some of you have asked why GwinnettForum did not question these gubernatorial candidates in recent weeks as we spoke with many candidates.  We figure the voters know more about the governor’s  race than any other race in Georgia right now. So, we sought input only from candidates from lieutenant governor on down.

BRACK: The 2018 primary candidates come from many states, countries

APRIL 24, 2018  |  Come next Tuesday, May 1, GwinnettForum will focus the entire issue on the 2018 primary election.

There will be two parts to that issue. First, will be GwinnettForum’s endorsements of candidates for state and local candidates in the primary. We will endorse in all races that are contested if we have talked to at least one of the candidates.  So far we have talked this season to 66 candidates in this primary season.

BRACK: Gwinnett may total more than 500,000 registered voters for primary

By Elliott Brack | Years ago, while at the Gwinnett County printing plant of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, when occasionally guiding groups on plant tours in the news print storage area, often people would ask ”How much newsprint do you use?”

We had the answer. In those days, we used a lot of newsprint, as they do today.  But after a while, since people could not comprehend and interpret the fine points of usage, I would just say “Big number.”

BRACK: An instinctive thought on the governorship; Remembering Zell Miller

MARCH 27, 2018  |  As you get older, you learn to trust your instincts.  You have no reason for thinking the way you are thinking, but you do.  After all, it’s instinctive.

Back in 2015 and up until the 2016 election, we felt that Hillary Clinton would not become the 45th president. We didn’t know why we felt that way. All this was before the Trump Movement. We thought that Hillary might get the nomination, but felt that she would not be our next president. We even wrote about this.
