BRACK: Ports of call in Maritime Canada are beautiful places to visit

By Elliott Brack, editor and publisher | The ports of call were enough to spark our interest: Portland and Bar Harbor Maine, then in Atlantic Canada the areas of Lunenburg, Halifax, Pictou, Charlottetown, Ile de Madeliene, Gaspe, plus on the St. Lawrence River, Baie-Comeau and Saguenay. The final destination was Quebec.

FOCUS: Gwinnett Animal Alliance praises Commission for new ordinance

By Jennifer Hart | Citizens of Gwinnett County should applaud their Board of Commissioners. On June 23, the Board amended the tethering ordinance that was set to take effect on July 1. The previous ordinance, modified and adopted by the commissioners on March 17, would have allowed up to 14 hours a day of unsupervised tethering on a trolley system.

Instead, his killing of nine church members brought people of all faiths and color together, finding even those closest to the people he shot to forgive him.

FOCUS: Overheard bus conversation gives hope

By Jock Ellis | CUMMING, Ga., June 30, 2015 — NBA hoops was the first thing I heard when I would hop aboard a MARTA bus headed toward the Lindbergh Station.

Two guys, one on either side of the aisle, would be deep in conversation about the previous night’s game. Both clearly enjoyed getting to talk about something they obviously loved. One guy was a 40ish black man wearing work khakis while the other, a 30-something white guy, was dressed in a three-piece, blue pinstripe suit. Their conversations would run from before I hopped on until we disembarked to await the train. And maybe after.
