When Lawrenceville was film version of Westchester, N.Y.
On August 19, 2015, the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse was a stand-in for the Westchester (New York) Municipal Building, in a film production entitled Sleepy Hollow. Click here to see scenes were filmed in the interior of the former courthouse also. These photos were as close as I could get to one of the stars, Tom Mison.
PHOTO ESSAY: Gwinnett County Fair
By Frank Sharp, Lawrenceville | The Gwinnett County Fair is one of the largest county fairs in the nation. I went twice, once at midday and then at night. Travel Tip: Go Grayson Highway to Davis Road and take that to the back gate so as to miss the gridlock on Sugarloaf Parkway. If you are on a budget and like down home cooking, the Old Time Restaurant is a good place to eat.
PHOTOS: Converging bits of architecture offers clues
Today’s Mystery Photo doesn’t give you much of a landmark that you can easily identify, but one thing we can tell you: it’s not taken in our hometown of Allentown, Ga. See if you can figure out where all these converging bits of architecture is located. Send in your thoughts to elliott@gwinnettforum.com and be sure to include your hometown. PHOTOS: Skating fun in Sugar Hill
SKATING FUN: Though the winter has been warm so far, people are flocking to a new element in Sugar Hill, its ice skating rink. Roving Photographer Frank Sharp recently visited the site, behind Sugar Hill City Hall. He says: “It’s great that area residents have a neighborhood skating rink so citizens don’t have to make the long drive to Centennial Olympic Park rink in downtown Atlanta to skate.” The Sugar Hill rink will be open until January 30. A snack bar is located at one end of the rink as Big Bird keeps an eye on the skaters.
