Cecil Morris, Nancy Anne Morris
Royce Cecil Morris, 84, of Cumming, former Duluth High School coach for 21 seasons, died January 5, 2022. Ironically, six days later his wife, Nancy Anne Morris, 86, also died. A memorial service for the couple was held January 15 at the Sugarloaf United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ty Blackburn officiating.
Gloria Hayes
Mrs. Gloria Ann Hayes, age 90, of Braselton passed away Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center – Braselton, surrounded by her family. The family will have a Private Service due to the wishes of Mrs. Hayes, as she was concerned for her family and friends’ safety during the Covid pandemic.
Mary Long
Retired educator, local author, and humorist Mary Frazier Long, 89, of Lawrenceville, passed away on July 19, 2021. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at the Lawrenceville First Baptist Church in Lawrenceville. There will be a reception in the Fellowship Hall following the service.
Jaclyn White
Jaclyn Weldon White, age 73, of Hoschton, died June 19, 2021. Jackie was born in Chattanooga, Tenn.; she was the daughter of John (Jack) and Evelyn Weldon. Jackie became a mother in 1974 to her daughter Caroline. In 1984 she married Carl Dean White Sr. and inherited three more children, Shannon, Dean and Kim. Jackie had seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Celeste Norton Wilbanks
On May 27, 2021, Celeste Norton Wilbanks passed away peacefully and surrounded by love. Celeste was a devoted wife, caring mother, doting grandmother, and perfect friend. Continuing objectives
Gwinnett Forum publisher Elliott Brack suggests Gwinnett County needs a long-range list of continuing objectives for improving the county. His 2025 list:
- Move statewide non-partisan judicial and school board elections to the date of the General Election.
- More creative efforts to support the arts in Gwinnett.
- Advancement and expansion of city historical societies.
- Require establishments that serve alcoholic beverages to halt sales of such products at 1 a.m., and close by 2 a.m.
- Require the Georgia Legislature to meet only once every two years.
- Eliminate single-use plastic packaging and straws in Gwinnett and require instead the use of paper products.
- Gwinnett planners to encourage condos and townhouses instead of apartments.
- County-wide microtransit services.
