The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) has announced a significant allocation of $280,000 from its million-dollar budget to fund a comprehensive study aimed at enhancing safety, beautification, and transportation infrastructure along Jimmy Carter Boulevard in the Gateway85 Community Improvement District (CID).
NEWS BRIEFS: Ross to speak at Memorial Day service
The commissioner of the Georgia Department of Veterans Services will speak at the annual Gwinnett Memorial Day service on Monday, May 27, at 1 p.m. on the grounds of the Fallen Heroes Memorial at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center in Lawrenceville. She is Patricia Ross, who previously served as the chief operating officer of the Veterans Education Career Transition Resource, VECTR Center, for five years.

The Gwinnett Animal Welfare Center has reached a critical capacity with more than 180 adoptable dogs, cats, puppies and kittens currently under care. To ease the strain on staff and resources, the shelter urgently requests potential adopters and foster families to take advantage of waived adoption fees.
NEWS BRIEFS: County OKs new flight school at Briscoe Field
Gwinnett commissioners last week approved a 25-year lease for a pilot school in Gwinnett to operate at Gwinnett County Airport, Briscoe Field. Lookup Flight Academy, LLC, the highest-scoring firm in a competitive bid process, was selected to lease a 2.3-acre site with hangar building and ramp. It is a minority (Black) owned firm.
