NEWS BRIEFS: Firms get contracts to rehab three flood control dams

The Gwinnett Department of Water Resources will rehabilitate six flood control dams maintained in  the County. For each dam, work includes replacement or rehabilitation of a valve in the outlet control structure to ensure proper dam operation, lining the primary outlet pipe and performing maintenance repairs.

NEWS BRIEFS: Fennell new State Education Board member

Jennifer Fennell, Jackson EMC’s Gwinnett District Manager, has been appointed by Gov. Brian Kemp to Georgia’s State Board of Education. Fennell will represent the 13th Congressional District, which includes Gwinnett County. Her appointment expires in 2030.

NEWS BRIEFS: Dog park in Lawrenceville to open August 9

A new urban dog park in Lawrenceville will be named HYRO Park (pronounced Hero) in honor of former K9 Officer HYRO, who served the Lawrenceville Police Department with distinction for seven years. HYRO Park, located adjacent to the Lawrenceville Lawn, will officially open to the public on August 9, 2024.
