Peachtree Corners is getting a new art gallery, which plans to open May 31 at The Forum on Peachtree Parkway, near the Barnes and Noble bookstore. Anderson Smith is bringing the colorful and creative works of 18 different artists to the 4,300 square foot space. Smith owns a gallery in Buckhead but is now opening his second location.

The commissioner of the Georgia Department of Veterans Services will speak at the annual Gwinnett Memorial Day service on Monday, May 27, at 1 p.m. on the grounds of the Fallen Heroes Memorial at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center in Lawrenceville.  She is Patricia Ross, who previously served as the chief operating officer of the Veterans Education Career Transition Resource, VECTR Center, for five years.

Gwinnett commissioners last week approved a 25-year lease for a pilot school in Gwinnett to operate at Gwinnett County Airport, Briscoe Field. Lookup Flight Academy, LLC, the highest-scoring firm in a competitive bid process, was selected to lease a 2.3-acre site with hangar building and ramp. It is a minority (Black) owned firm.
