NEWS BRIEFS: County rescinds idea of getting Livesy land by eminent domain

Without much information, the Gwinnett County Commission abruptly backed out of a condemnation of property in the south part of  Gwinnett, known as the Promised Land. It had previously been announced late last week that the county was to consider getting 10 acres of property by eminent domain.

Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) and Lifepoint Rehabilitation, a business unit of Lifepoint Health of Brentwood, Tenn., have entered into a joint venture partnership to build and operate a new inpatient rehabilitation facility in Gainesville.

NEWS BRIEFS: County names Cephas as is new fire chief 

Gwinnett County has a new fire chief, as the Gwinnett Board of Commissioners have approved a recommendation by County Administrator Glenn Stephens to appoint Fred Cephas to the role.  Current Gwinnett County Fire Chief Russell Knick, who has served since 2018, will move into a leadership position within the County Administrator’s Office.
