FOCUS: Gwinnett benefits from having private special needs school

By Jamie Hamilton  |  Since 1987, Special Needs Schools of Gwinnett (SNSG), which is not part of the Gwinnett County Public Schools, has served the special needs community in Gwinnett and surrounding counties through their PreK-12 School and Young Adults Learning Life Skills (YALLS) Program.  It currently enrolls nearly 100 students, ages 3 to 40.

Most issues are ones that are debated as to which approaches are the best – progressive or conservative. People of good will can often reach compromises which allow solutions to emerge, and progress made. The challenges to which I refer are much more fundamental and involve the norms underlying our democracy.

If someone had told me then I would be serving Him in Washington, D.C.–making music available to the blind through braille music—I would never have believed it.

We enjoy traveling, chiefly road trips in North America, but numerous trips internationally. We like sightseeing, camping, backpacking, birding, botanizing; and hobbies, collecting, reading, sports, and more.

FOCUS: Leaders celebrate innovative new facility, The Water Tower 

By Deborah Tuff |  County leaders rolled up their sleeves to cut the ribbon for and celebrate the completion of The Water Tower – an innovative center in Gwinnett, bringing education, co-working and research together under one roof. It is the first facility of its kind in the world as it conducts research on the water and wastewater industry, and also helps train water technologists of the future.

Monica Padman, a Gwinnett County native, is one who beat the odds to become a success. She is co-host of a popular podcast, Armchair Expert, hosted by Hollywood actor Dax Shepherd, husband of actress Kristin Bell.

FOCUS: Swan Queen ballet returns to Buford’s Sylvia Beard Theater

SUWANEE, Ga.  |  Suwanee Ballet will return to the Sylvia Beard Theater at Buford Community Center with Swan Queen, a shortened version of the classical ballet Swan Lake. The performances will be on April 29 at 6:30 p.m. and April 30, with two performances, at 12:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
