Elliott Brack’s Perspective

BRACK: No man is above the law in the USA: That includes President Trump

JUNE 8, 2018  |  It’s just like the little fellow who cried “Wolf!” too often, which  after a while no one paid much attention to his panicking.

That’s the way I’ve come to feel about the many Tweets that President Trump continues to send out.  He had adopted this way to “reach the people” in spectacular fashion, though it may hurt him as much as he thinks it  helps.

BRACK: Georgia legislature’s unfunded mandate is wrong, hurting Stockbridge

JUNE 5, 2018  |  Talk about your unfunded mandates!

In this instance, the Georgia General Assembly has taken 6.1 square miles (approx. 3,917 acres) that belonged to the City of Stockbridge, and without a justification and totally unprecedented, legislated that a vast parcel of geography, an area with a population of 9,000 people, should be included within the corporate limits of the City of Eagle’s Landings.

BRACK: Short visit to Cincinnati gains the flavor of Ohio River city

By Elliott Brack | Skyline Chili is to Cincinnati what the Varsity is the Atlanta.

Chances are for Atlantans, that Skyline chili seems a little tame. But Cincinnatians probably wouldn’t appreciate the tanginess of the Varsity hot dog.

The Queen City of Cincinnati also cultivates people with praise for Graeter’s ice cream. While it could be good, perhaps it was the circumstances that we were in that didn’t allow us to appreciate it as we should.

BRACK: High-level discussion about death is beautifully beneficial

By Elliott Brack | “DNR” is an abbreviation that means Department of Natural Resources to some.

But is can also mean “Do Not Resuscitate” to those who want no extended medical procedures or apparatus hooked to their body in case of a serious illness.

BRACK: Looking at the primary results and thoughts on the governor’s race

MAY 25, 2018  |  It’s been quite intoxicating for me as several readers questioned why GwinnettForum did not give some facts and guidance on the races for governor in the primaries.

One person said: “You told us of your choices for every race around except the governor. And we don’t have on your site any information from the gubernatorial candidates. Why is that?”

BRACK: First time since 1984, more Democratic votes in Gwinnett than GOP

MAY 25, 2018  |  For 34 years, Gwinnett has been a largely Republican County. However, judging from the turnout in the 2018 primary, the county may be moving toward more Democrats in office.

Not only that, remember that in the 2014 presidential election, Gwinnett went for Hillary Clinton, as 166,153 votes went to Ms. Clinton and 146,989 voted for President Trump.

BRACK: Now here comes explosions in space creating electricity for us

By Elliott Brack | Science is amazing. It continues to develop elaborate solutions which drastically change the world.

Who would have thought that a person could find a way to propel people in something called an automobile?  Or hooking small wires together to perform elaborate and complicated functions for the microchip? Or allow people to spin around the moon?

BRACK: North Korean leader is canny, apparently getting what he wants

By Elliott Brack | President Trump likes to take credit for what he calls his successful dealings with the North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un. President Trump thinks of himself as a great negotiator, and deal maker, and told us that the recent changes in North Korea prove that he came out ahead with his dealings with North Korea.

BRACK: Here’s a way to make sense out of the many political candidates

MAY 11, 2018  |  Notice today’s date, May 11. That means there’re only 11 days left until the 2018 Georgia General Primary, coming on May 22.

What we’ve heard from lots of people is that there seems to be little interest in these races, and some mighty big offices are open to be filled. Remember the race last year to fill the Sixth District seat in Congress between the winner, Karen Handel and Jon Ossoff?  It got loads of publicity, constant television advertising, and oodles of money funneling from out of state.  Compared to that race, this election season is a sleeper.
