Who would have thought that a person could find a way to propel people in something called an automobile? Or hooking small wires together to perform elaborate and complicated functions for the microchip? Or allow people to spin around the moon?
By Elliott Brack | President Trump likes to take credit for what he calls his successful dealings with the North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un. President Trump thinks of himself as a great negotiator, and deal maker, and told us that the recent changes in North Korea prove that he came out ahead with his dealings with North Korea.
MAY 11, 2018 | Notice today’s date, May 11. That means there’re only 11 days left until the 2018 Georgia General Primary, coming on May 22.
What we’ve heard from lots of people is that there seems to be little interest in these races, and some mighty big offices are open to be filled. Remember the race last year to fill the Sixth District seat in Congress between the winner, Karen Handel and Jon Ossoff? It got loads of publicity, constant television advertising, and oodles of money funneling from out of state. Compared to that race, this election season is a sleeper.
The first thing that hits you when stepping into Rodney Scott’s Barbecue at 1011 King Street here is how very clean the place is. It pristinely sparkles and shines with neatness, everything in place, while the floor appears clean enough to eat on. It’s a far cry from most barbecue joints, often in rundown shacks with sawdust on the floor. Even his outdoor seating area, if you don’t mind the Charleston humidity, is clean and neat, with wood for the cooking in half-cord stacks of oak, pecan and hickory.
Today let’s take a look at the Georgia political scene for 2018.
Some of you have asked why GwinnettForum did not question these gubernatorial candidates in recent weeks as we spoke with many candidates. We figure the voters know more about the governor’s race than any other race in Georgia right now. So, we sought input only from candidates from lieutenant governor on down.

APRIL 27, 2018 | All across the nation, the big new high-tech topic is driverless cars. Wednesday in Peachtree Corners, that Gwinnett city announced a program that lets the city work toward leadership in cutting-edge ideas that may transform innovations in transportation technology. It is being called an advanced vehicle technology accelerator.
APRIL 24, 2018 | Come next Tuesday, May 1, GwinnettForum will focus the entire issue on the 2018 primary election.
There will be two parts to that issue. First, will be GwinnettForum’s endorsements of candidates for state and local candidates in the primary. We will endorse in all races that are contested if we have talked to at least one of the candidates. So far we have talked this season to 66 candidates in this primary season.
APRIL 20, 2018 | Finally, at long last, people throughout the area seem to be realizing that something must be done about the number one problem in Metro Atlanta: public transit.
We see this new concern in Gwinnett County, in Metro Atlanta, and most interestingly, at the Georgia General Assembly. Their action this year seems to open the possibility that significant transit action can start soon.

The family-friendly event, Duluth Fall Festival, will take place on September 28-29. This is the 41st year, and the Festival has consistently been voted one of the top festivals in the entire area, including “Best Large Festival in the Southeast’” by national publications.
