McBath

BRACK: McBath will do well; Return of quotes and Snellville relatives

By Elliott Brack | DEC. 4, 2018  |  Hurrah for Lucy McBath of Georgia’s Sixth Congressional District! We predict she’ll do well in the Congress.

Being a new Congressperson cannot be easy. After all, there’s a tremendous amount of difference between being a candidate for Congress, and then of about dealing with constituents from afar, about living in Washington, and maneuvering around all this morass.

By Elliott Brack | NOV. 30, 2018  |  Past GwinnettForum readers are familiar with Susan McBrayer of Sugar Hill. She has diligently contributed ideas to this site for years, and has been long known as a prolific reader.

We bring this up today as Susan in this issue contributes her 100th recommendation, more submissions than any other reader. Here’s how it came about.

BRACK: Congress is sole judge of who should be seated in both houses

BRACK: Congress is sole judge of who should be seated in both houses

By Elliott Brack | The hullabaloo over voter fraud all across the country, we suspect, is much ado about not much. Yet here in Georgia, we’ve heard of some who say they were, in one way or another, blocked from voting. Most election officials are upright citizens, and wouldn’t stand for it if they suspected fraud.

By Elliott Brack  |  Going to funerals is something I remember since I was 4 years old, when my younger brother died. Over the years, we’ve felt it important to attend funerals of friends.  As a veteran funeral attendee, we can distinguish between a good and bad funeral. (Length is not the criteria.) We realize those we’re losing won’t be at our funeral, and the older we get, the fewer there will be to say farewell to us.

BRACK: This and that and all around, but not much politics for today

By Elliott Brack | NOV. 13, 2018  |  Leaving politics alone, today we’ll catch up with some notes we’ve put aside in the last few days.

WHAT A GOOD IDEA!  We refer to the Braselton Trolley, which began operations last week. With the development of what is now the Town of Braselton basically developing along one axis, Georgia Highway 53, the trolley serves to help bring the community together.

NOV. 9, 2018  |  Let’s take a look at the 2018 elections.

In many ways, in the still-to-be-called races, matters are going like they should.

While there still votes to be counted, those leading in races say what they should: they claim victory.  Meanwhile, the candidates who are trailing maintain that the race isn’t quite over yet, so they’re not conceding.

BRACK: We hate to predict, but statewide politics may not be over Tuesday

By Elliott Brack  | Here’s what we’ll predict: if the political polls are as accurate as the pollsters hope they will be in the 2018 election, politics in Georgia won’t be over today. We predict we’ll have a runoff in the governor’s race, and at least two other statewide races.

BRACK: The Indians used weirs to pull fish from the Chattahoochee

OCT. 31, 2018  | Gwinnett’s western border, all the way from Lake Lanier to below Holcomb Bridge Road where Gwinnett meets DeKalb County, is the Chattahoochee River.  That cold-water flowing river has been a major force for people in this area for years.
