BRACK: Learn the fascinating story of the Kendeda Fund

By Elliott Brack  |  Perhaps you have heard of the Kendeda Fund, a nationwide nonprofit we learned that has been based in Georgia in a story from the Saporta Report. We read about it going out of business at the end of 2023, and found it to be one of the most interesting stories of the year, quietly and virtually anonymously operating without most people realizing who was behind it.

BRACK: It’s a better way to provide housing: Condos, not apartments

BRACK: Yule message, habits, Chick-fil-A and speed cameras

By Elliott Brack  |  The best localized Christmas card we got this year was from newcomers to Georgia, Pam and Eugene Brooks of Norcross. Their card was from Allport Editions, and entitled “Georgia Christmas,” by David Price, from 2004. It’s still up-to-date.

BRACK: Recent college football season gave us much joy

By Elliott Brack  |  “You betcha,” as they say at North Dakota State, we enjoyed the college football games on television this year.  Now we look forward to Monday night’s championship final.  We just wish Alabama had made it to the finals. BRACK: Throw out this 47-year-old coat?  Why it won’t happen

By Elliott Brack  |  How often do you throw old items out?  Some of us may not do it often enough.  As a nation, we save a lot of worthless items. This sometimes shows in our offices, in homes, even for towns.  You often see far too much junk.

BRACK: Our Christmas season is brightened by its music

By Elliott Brack  |  Christmas carols are a joy of the season. Ever think about how very diverse these songs are, coming from all parts of the Western world? Many come from England, though other countries contribute their share.

The latest map puts Gwinnett in four congressional districts.

BRACK: Maps, breweries, nursing homes, NCAA and two losses

By Elliott Brack  |  The recently passed map by the Statehouse of Georgia state and federal legislative districts will be getting judicial scrutiny.  Republicans might brace themselves from not doing enough to make the districts equitable. If untenable, a special master must re-do the districts.
