Elliott Brack’s Perspective
BRACK: Norcross to see benefits of parkland once cleared by professional goats
By Elliott Brack | First, they called in the goats. You see, the acreage that the City of Norcross had purchased on Pinnacle Way at Brook Hollow Parkway, intending to make it a park, was covered up with all types of growth and trash. The city needed the land to provide equal access to parks and green space to another area of the city, and there was little park space on the east side of town. The city figured the land would be a good spot for a park and green space for city residents’ use.
BRACK: Could political history in Gwinnett repeat in a different way in 2020?
By Elliott Brack | Is the Gwinnett political year shaping up similar to what happened in 1984? Could history repeat itself….in a slightly different way?
Those of you not living here then may not realize how pivotal 1984 was for political parties in Gwinnett. Up until that time, there were a few Republican office holders in Gwinnett. Louise Radloff was the first, having been elected as a Republican in 1973.
BRACK: Visit Loganville and you’ll see lots of good, steady growth
APRIL 30, 2019 | Those of you who do not get to drive through Loganville may be surprised should you visit there. This easternmost city of Gwinnett County is mostly located in Walton County, and in the last few years, has seen solid growth.
The town is relatively small, with an estimated 12,062 residents now, but that’s up from 5,435 in 2000 and 10,485 in 2010.
BRACK: Here’s a way readers can help extend GwinnettForum’s reach
By Elliott Brack | Remembering back to 1974, as I moved here to join Gwinnett Daily News, I wondered how in the world a newspaper would cover a county with 100,000 people. It seemed nigh impossible.
Yet the newspaper I joined, Gwinnett Daily News, was becoming a really excellent newspaper. You covered a county by developing a hard-working and innovative staff for news and advertising, and delivered the paper on time.
BRACK: Important elements to know about those new automotive key fobs
By Elliott Brackj | Many modern automobiles operate without what we have known previously as a “key.” Instead, today’s new vehicles now have “keyless entry,” using a key fob which can automatically start the car simply by the push of a dashboard button, as long as you have the fob with you.
You never have to bother to get your key out of your pocket or purse. It’s a new “benefit” in operating a modern car.
Except.
BRACK: Remembering some fascinating journeys in different modes
By Elliott Brack | Any trip can be great fun. We’ve had some unusual ones.Years ago, a friend offered a trip—for two—on the Goodyear Blimp, in Atlanta for a promotion. He said: “Just two seats, leaving at 2 p.m. Sunday.” That caused a problem in our five member family. Pulling straws, our youngest won the second seat available.
