BRACK: California governor has patience, waiting in the briar patch

By Elliott Brack | One key Democratic figure who seems like B’rer Rabbit, just hiding in the briar patch, is California Governor Gavin Newsom. Some Democrats look upon Newsom as a viable future presidential candidate.  Now age 55, he is perfectly set to run for president in 2028.

BRACK: Communities experiencing shootings need to come together

By Elliott Brack  |  As mass shootings mount in our country, one problem is that they take place all over this vast United States. That makes it difficult to raise concentrated fury against this menace when they erupt.

BRACK: Georgia native should resign from the Supreme Court

By Elliott Brack  |  Improper is what it is. He is guilty of impropriety.  We’re talking about, of all occupations, a U.S. Supreme Court justice.

For any judge to do something  unethical and improper is almost unthinkable. And on top of that, he’s originally from our own state of Georgia. How embarrassing, apparently for us, but apparently not for him. That makes it even worse. Yes, we’re thinking of Clarence Thomas.

BRACK: Book recounts criminal life of Dixie Mafia’s Billy Birt

By Elliott Brack   |  Most people in Gwinnett may not have heard of the “Dixie Mafia.”  That is the term applied years ago to white Southern gangsters operating in several areas, though not connected to the Italian Mafia members who hung around together  operating in the northeast.  The Dixie Mafia had many illegal operations outside the law in the South.

Brian Brown’s caption for this photo reads: “This hall-and-parlor cottage, complete with a preacher’s room, is a wonderful example of this historic vernacular form. While the romantic notion of a preacher’s room would suggest it hosted traveling preachers, it was more likely just an added room to accommodate a growing family. Perhaps visiting family used it, as well.” Photo provided.
