Our country narrowly averted a government shutdown last month when then conservative House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R) made a last-minute deal with Democrats to pass a continuing resolution (HR 5860) to keep the government open for 45 days at existing spending rates.

Imagine the surprise that hit the historical tribal leader Moses when he came down from a mountain and saw his people shaping and worshiping a Golden Calf, and on an altar built by his brother, Aaron. That would knock your socks off. Wow…ya’ can’t eat gold.

By David Simmons | My mom and dad ventured west from East Tennessee in the late ’50’s to Indianapolis, and were soon followed by my mother’s older brother Elmer and his family. After we moved to the suburb of Greenfield, we lived about 30 miles apart and Elmer actually bought the house that we used to rent on the southside of Indianapolis.
