All too rarely, a county has an opportunity to decide an issue that will set its future course for generations to come. Such is bringing of rail to Gwinnett County. Now is the time to act and show some bold leadership and not be bureaucratic care takers of the status quo.
By Debra Houston | On a recent Saturday, my husband and I ordered dinner at a Mexican restaurant in Tucker. Neither of us spoke thereafter, nor smiled. Our minds were elsewhere.
Across the aisle, an animated young couple flirted with one another, while we, the older couple, sat static and listless. Drawn to their laughter, I’d occasionally sneak a peek, hoping their cheer might rub off on me.

Duluth Fall Festival has again come and gone. The weather was great – 100 percent better than we had thought it would be! Hints of showers only served to keep it cool. Because of months of work by the volunteers, this was among the very best Festivals in 41 year history, a resounding success!
Co-chairs Chris McGahee and Alana Moss both live in downtown Duluth. Chris is with the City of Duluth as head of economic development. Alana has been a leader for the Festival for many years and has served as overall chair several times. Chris and Alana did a fantastic job, and have been asked to chair it again in 2025, and they have agreed. Money raised goes to the beautification and betterment of Downtown Duluth and local non-profits.
We are thankful for the 300 volunteers, 100+ sponsors, the faithful vendors, tens of thousands of attendees, and the City of Duluth. It takes all of these to make our annual Duluth Fall Festival the great success it has become! So, put the 42nd Duluth Fall Festival on your calendars now for Saturday and Sunday, September 27-28, 2025. We look forward to seeing you then. Before that, visit downtown Duluth, and see the wonderful transformation that Duluth Fall Festival has helped to create!
