By Elliott Brack | In the distance, was that a siren? Waiting among a large group in a medical facility recently for a doctor’s appointment, an ambulance pulled up to the building entrance. That explained the siren. Three EMTs started rolling in a gurney.

About that time a Gwinnett fire truck from Station 15 on Perry Street in Lawrenceville also quietly pulled up to the building, with three fireman joining the EMTs.

BRACK: New indoor recreational park to open in Peachtree Corners

By Elliott Brack | A new $6.5 million recreational entertainment center is coming to the former BJ’s Warehouse location at Jimmy Carter Boulevard and Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Peachtree Corners with an anticipated opening of around July 1. It will be called Slingshot Entertainment, with electric Go-Kart race courses for both children and adults. There will also be 14 lanes for bowling, Ninja adult and kids obstacle courses, and a full service 100+ seat restaurant and bar in the 130,000 square foot building. In addition, there will be an arcade area, plus conference rooms and party space.

BRACK: Blue Ridge has what TripAdvisor calls best barbecue in nation

By Elliott Brack | Word got out last week that the best barbecue in the nation, says TripAdvisor, is at Joe’s BBQ in Blue Ridge, Ga. Ironically, TripAdvisor said the second best place for barbecue was at another Joe’s Barbecue, this one was in Kansas City, Kan. The two eateries are not related.

BRACK: Boyce firm named Atlanta Contractor of the Year

By Elliott Brack, editor and publisher | For the fifth year in a row, a firm started in Dacula when Thomas Boyce turned 16 years old has been named the Contractor of the Year for Atlanta by the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI). Boyce Design and Contracting of Dacula focuses on high end residential remodeling projects in the Northern Atlanta area.
The firm is owned by brothers Thomas 30, and John Boyce, 28, sons of Carole and Peter Boyce of Dacula. Carole is a member of the Gwinnett School Board, while her husband is an attorney.

D. degree at the University of Virginia (UVA) in economics. One person put the value of the award at $250,000.

Dr. Collins was the long-time pastor of the Peachtree Christian Church in downtown Atlanta. Through his efforts, Duluth’s Peachtree Christian Hospice is now thriving in Gwinnett.
