BRACK: Election fraud? That’s mighty different from voter fraud

By Elliott Brack  |  The Washington columnist Helen Cox Richardson wrote on January 18: “Voter fraud is about an individual breaking the law and is almost always caught. It is not a threat to democracy. Election fraud means that people in power have rigged the system so that the will of the voters is overturned. When it happens, it threatens to destroy our nation.”

BRACK: Gwinnett loses a key industrial leader in Brad  Currey

By Elliott Brack |  Georgia lost a mighty good man when Bradley Currey Jr. died last week in Atlanta at the age of 91. For 24 years, he was associated with Rock-Tenn Company, which had its headquarters in Norcross.  The company was one of the leaders in the recycled paper business, turning used paperboard into printed cartons for the beverage industry, among its many users.

BRACK: Reviewing the Continuing Objectives for Gwinnett County

By Elliott Brack2  |  At the start of this new year 2022, GwinnettForum steps back and takes a look at our Continuing Objectives for Gwinnett, which we publish in each issue.  These are the larger issues of the day, and not the day-to-day minor changes that government is always going through. We post them in each issue to keep reminding our governmental leaders that going about matters in the same old fashion way can stymie good government. Government must forever be looking for improved ways to serve the Gwinnett constituents, and be open to change.

BRACK: Most popular man in Georgia today? Stetson Bennett

By Elliott Brack |  Let’s talk politics eventually today. But first, who might be the most  popular man in Georgia this morning? Stetson Bennett IV.  The underdog Georgia Bulldogs’ quarterback played a superb game in the Orange Bowl against the Big Ten’s Michigan. Bennett and his cohorts thoroughly dominated the once mighty Spartans, who came into the game with just one loss, and was ranked No. 2 by the pollsters, just ahead of Georgia.

BRACK: Understand the background of two Christmas carols

By Elliott Brack  |  One of the joys of the Christmas season is to return to the music of Christmas, particularly Christmas carols. Isakson

FOCUS: Senator Isakson served with distinction as admired Republican official

By Elliott Brack |  For 16 years in the Georgia Legislature, Johnny Isakson knew what it was to be a minority as a Republican elected official.  For seven terms in the House, plus later another term in the Georgia Senate, he toiled endlessly for good government, winning even the admiration of those in the Democratic Party for his zeal, friendliness, reasonableness and hard work.

BRACK: Inland terminal near Gainesville may give Interstates relief

By Elliott Brack |  Good government to us means taking care of matters today, but also thinking well ahead to be prepared for what we know will be coming.

After all, another 2.5 million people are expected to live in Georgia by 2045 (24 years away), adding to Georgia’s present population of 10.7 million (2020 figure.)

BRACK: Two scary instances when driving for take-out food

By Elliott Brack  |  Headed out last week to pick up take-out food, two incidents gave me pause. It was about 6:15 p.m. when I turned on Holcomb Bridge Road, heading west, with little traffic in this lane. However, oncoming easterly traffic was unusually heavy. By then, it was fully dark, as we were back to standard time.
